Post LA Inventory, and FP Geeks…

Hi Pen Fans.

There are two topics with this quick post.

First, we have a lot of new pens that we brought to the LA Pen Show but did not sell.  So keep an eye out…later this week, we’ll have the Current Inventory Gallery updated with a lot of new pens ready to ship, including about 10 new bulb fillers.

Second, I quickly wanted to mention a new fountain pen website that I’m really excited about.  It’s not everyday that I go out of my way to promote and endorse a pen blog, but this is no ordinary blog.

FPGeeks.com is run by two great fellows named Eric Schneider and Dan Smith.  I had known Eric from previous pen shows, but I got a chance to meet both Eric and Dan as a duo at the LA Pen Show, had a great dinner, and got to know each of them a lot better.

I’m really impressed with FPGeeks.com.  It’s not every pen blog that has the following features….

1.  Weekly Podcast
2.  Weekly "Geek of the Week" Interview (every week, you will get to hear a major player in the pen industry interviewed in a very candid and fun manner…personally, I’ve learned a lot more about some people in the industry.)
3.  A forum which has already become one of the larger ones in a very short time.
4.  Excellent live coverage of the Pen Shows, as well as one of the most comprehensive pen show schedules that I’ve seen.
5.  Awesome Reviews to help you decide which products will be the best decision for you.
6.  Two very ambitious fellows who really know how to run a website as well as conduct invterviews and podcasts.

So I recommend that you add them to your Blog Reader, iTunes Podcast, or simply bookmark them.  I have been interviewed as a "Geek of the Week".  I also participated in this weeks Podcast, and I truly had a lot of fun with both.

Like I said, rarely would I go out of my way to heavily endorse and promote a pen blog, but this is a blog that I personally visit often, and find very valuable.  They’ve only been around for about 6 months, but already they have lots of good content, which will only get better and become an even larger library of fountain pen goodness!

Check them out!

LA was a Blast!

Hey Pen Fans!

The LA Pen Show was amazing, as usual!

We’re back home and trying to get rested up.  If you are expecting an email from me, it might be tomorrow, as I really need to recoup today.

For those of you that attended, it was great to see you!  For those who could not, I have embedded a slideshow below if you’d like to see some of the LA Pen Show happenings.

You’ll also see some good recaps of the show at the Fountain Pen Network here, and at FPGeeks here

(if you can’t see the slideshow above, click here).

Thanks!

Heading to LA!

Hi Pen Fans!

We’re all packed up and ready for the LA Pen Show!

We’ll have around 250 pens with us, and plenty of bulb fillers.

Just like most pen shows, we never had time to photograph all the new inventory that we’ve made, so after the show, we’ll photograph what did not sell and put those pens in the Current Inventory Gallery.

If I’m slow on emails, you’ll know why.

Hope to see lots of you there!

A Couple of Glitches, but Overall, the Hangout was a Blast!

Hi Pen Fans.

The Google+ Hangout last night was a lot of fun.

After an initial glitch (I was somehow not even in my own hangout room!!!), we got into our topics, and had a blast.  We had some great pen-related topics, and then got real informal…. somehow we got onto the direction that the water in our toilets swirls, vs our friend Rocky, who was joining us from Australia!

Now I do record these hangouts, so people who can’t participate can later watch what was discussed.

But – glitch #2 arose!  My audio recording was only my personal microphone, and not the entire group!

Oh well!  This was my first time hosting one of these, so I suppose I’ll chalk it all up to a beta test.

I now know what went wrong with both glitches, so after the LA Pen Show, I’d like to plan another one, and we’ll have everything cleaned up!

Thanks

Let’s Hang Out!

Hi Pen Fans!

On Thursday at 9:00 PM Eastern Time, I’m going to host a Google+ Hangout.

What is a Google+ Hangout?  Essentially, it’s a lot like a Skype Video Chat, but instead of two people, you can have up to 10 people interacting with their webcams.

I’ve been doing Google+ hangouts with other photographers lately, and I can tell you….the interaction and learning possibilies are definitely wonderful.

I’ve done some Ustream video streams before, but I don’t really care for how they lack interactivity.  I feel like I’m just yapping away, and everyone just watches me.  Sure, people can interact in the chat…but when I’m speaking, and everyone else is typing, it’s just not quite the same.

If you would like, check out this link…

….this is a recorded hangout with photographers.  Now obviously, you may have no interest in photography.  But if you want to simply watch about 5 seconds, you’ll quickly see how these things work.

So if you are interested, you will need to be a Google+ member.  However, Google+ is a great place for social media.  I won’t get into all of my reasons (it’s quite a polarizing topic), but personally, I like Google+ much better than Facebook.

And if you don’t want to get involoved in another social media site, you can sign up, and simply don’t add people to your circles.  Then you can participate in Hangouts that I host and leave it at that, if you prefer.

So – if you’d like to participate, you’ll follow this link to my Edison Google+ page on Thursday at 9:00 PM EST.

At this point, I really don’t have a topic in mind.  I’m up for suggestions!  Since the LA Pen Show is right around the corner, we could discuss Pen Shows.  We could also discuss any range of topics…pen design, nib tuning, inks, whatever!  Show up with whatever you’d like to discuss!

And rest assured – the purpose of this is not Edison promotion.  If people have specific Edison questions, of course, I’ll talk about whatever people want.  But the purpose of this is to promote pens in general and get people excited about pens of all types.  I might use this in the future to launch new pen models, or whatever.  But for now, the topics will not be Edison focused unless the crowd takes it in that direction.

Hope to see plenty of you Thursday night!
