Have a Great Thanksgiving!

Hi Pen Fans!

It’s that time of year for us to give thanks!  Here at Edison we have a lot to be thankful for!  Our business has been growing since the whole crazy thing started!  When I lost my pharmaceutical job about 6-7 years ago, I would have never thought that I’d be running a successful fountain pen business today!

Thanks for supporting our business!

My wife and I just celebrated our 10th anniversary last weekend.  My wife’s parents celebrated their 40th anniversary in June, and my parents just celebrated their 50th anniversary a couple of weeks ago!  On top of that, everyone is healthy and happy!

Our 8 year old is doing great in school, is awfully well-mannered, and is truly a blessing in our lives!

So again, thanks for supporting our business, and everyone have a great Thanksgiving!  Please take a moment this week to recall all that you have to be thankful for.

Below is a nice family photo of some fun time after the Chicago Pen Show!

We will be working today and tomorrow, but then we’ll be heading to my parents for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, so if I’m slow with emails this week, you’ll know why.

Thanks!

The Edison Menlo is Goldspot’s Pen of the Year, 2013!

Hi Pen Fans!

I’m very proud to announce that The Edison Menlo Pump Filler won the Goldspot Pen of the Year, 2013!

And not by a small margin, either!  The Menlo won by 57%!  You can see details and Goldspot’s announcement here.  Thanks to everyone who voted!

So in the last three years, the Huron was nominated for a Pen World Reader’s Choice Award, the Collier won Goldspot’s Pen of the Year 2011, the Beaumont won Goldspot’s Pen of the Year 2012, and now the Menlo Pump Filler Won Goldspot’s Pen of the Year 2013!

That’s three years running for Edison in the Goldspot polls!

Again, thanks to everyone for voting.  Next week when we take a break, we’ll have one more item to be thankful for!

Edison Donating a Pen to Benefit Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda Victims

Hi Pen Fans!

I’ve been following a lot of the terrible events in the Phillipines lately, and I was very moved by a gesture made by Leigh Reyes, who is a fountain pen fanatic, and resident of the Phillipines.

First off, Leigh is fine, as is her family and friends, but we can’t say the same for a lot of others in her homeland.

Leigh is a fountain pen collector, and a pretty amazing artist!  I highly recommend checking our her blog, and well as some of her truly amazing art that she does with fountain pens.  Some great examples of her work are below…

Keeping the Art of Handwriting Alive

Strange Overtones – A Calligraphic Tribute

Writing on Water

I saw Leigh’s blog post this weekend where she is announcing that she is taking some of her nicer pens, and auctioning them to benefit Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda victims.  The proceeds of these auctions will go directly to the Phillipine Red Cross.

You can see her blog post with the pens that she is auctioning here.

We at Edison decided that participating in this benefit would be a good idea, so we are donating a Menlo Pump Filler in Striated Blue/Gold with a steel nib of the recipient’s choice valued at $350 for Leigh to include in her auction.  Pics are below.

So please go visit Leigh’s page where the auction is being hosted, and see if there are any pens over there that appeal to you (there really are some nice pens that she’s parting with!).  Right now, the Edison Menlo is set at $89 with no reserve!

I’ll quote Leigh directly from an email that she sent me earlier this evening… "Today’s headline in the Inquirer says ‘Millions still hungry’ and the Red Cross is in the best position to help."

Please consider bidding to benefit the typhoon victims!

Thanks!

2013 Limited Edition Edison Nouveau Premiere!

Hi Pen Fans!

It’s time to announce a new Limited Edition Pen in collaboration with the Goulet Pen Co!

I will make this announcement brief, as Brian Goulet does a great job of covering this project in the video below, and on his blog post.

Make sure to check out the entire announcement over at Ink Nouveau for all details, but I will highlight some bullet points below…..

1.  The pen will be a Premiere.  It will be made from a fantastic ebonite that the Edison Pen Co has never used in the past.

2.  Pens will be sold through the Goulet Pen Company.  They will not be sold direct through Edison.

3.  There will be a buying period that is open right now.  The buying period will end on November 30th.  No orders will be accepted after this.

4.  Once the buying period is complete, Edison will order materials and begin manufacturing pens.  Of course, this means that there could be a month or two in between when you order your pen and when you receive your pen.  We are shooting for January.

5.  Cost of this pen is $200.

6.  Click here to buy this pen.

This covers a lot of the bullet points.  If you have questions, make sure to read the full announcement over at Goulet Pens, or leave questions in the comments.

Thanks!
