2014 LE Group Buy Purchasing Period Coming to an End, and Canadian Shipping…..

Hi Pen Fans!

This is just a quick reminder that the purchasing period for the 2014 LE Group Buy Glenmont will be ending this week at 11:59pm Friday, Eastern Time.  After this, no more orders will be accepted!

If you are interested, here is the page announcing the Limited Editon Pen.

Here is the purchasing page.

As a side note to our Canadian customers….I made a mistake on our shipping calculator to Canada!  If you add the Limited Edition pen to your cart right now, you’ll see that shipping is being calculated at $38.  This should be $28.  Only our Canadian customers are effected by this.  For any Canadian customer placing an order, go ahead with your order, and rest assured that we will refund the difference to you.  If you have already ordered a pen shipped to Canada, you should have already received your refund.  If not, make sure to let us know.  We are double checking all the transactions now.

Thank!

2014 LE Glenmont Group Buy!

Hi Pen Fans!

It’s a pleasure to announce our 2014 Limited Edition Group Buy Glenmont!

For those of you who have participated in these Group Buys in the past, you’ll realize that this is the only time that you can get an Edison Pen at any kind of discount.  We only do these once a year.

Please watch the video below, and then I’ll get into some details and logistics as to how this will work.  (If you can’t see the video below, click here.)

Logistics

1.  In order to participate, you will need to pay in full prior to any manufacturing.  We will have a set buying period starting today, and ending at 11:59pm, September 5th.  Once this buying period has passed, we will have a total number of pens. After this, we will not accept any more orders. We will then order materials. Once they arrive, we will start manufacturing.  Understand that this means that there could be 1 to 3 months between when you pay and when you receive your pen.  I’m giving 1-3 months as a ballpark.  The actual time involved will depend on how many pens we are making. Once we have a final number, I will have an accurate (albeit still estimated) timeline.

2.  We will document the entire manufacturing process with photos and videos so you can watch the process of your pens being "born".  Updates will be posted here on this blog.  Since you will receive these updates, the exact shipping date will not be a surprise to you.  We will keep you updated.

3.  The pen to be made will be The Glenmont as a cartridge/converter filler in either Cumberland Ebonite, or Pearlized Wine Acrylic.  See the video above or pics below.

4.  Price for ebonite will be $190.  Price for acrylic will be $180, then shipping.  Normal retail price for either of these pens is $250.

5.  Steel nibs only in XF, F, M, B, 1.1mm or 1.5mm italic.  If you wish to have an 18k nib, then you will need to buy the pen with the steel nib, and then contact me after you receive the pen for an 18k upgrade (nibs unscrew to interchange).

6.  There will be no nib customizations available.  Only XF, F, M, B, 1.1mm or 1.5mm italic.  You will need to handle any nib customizations aftermarket.

7.  The pens will be engraved as a Numbered Limited Edition.  The Ebonite Pens will be engraved "2014 LEE #XX of XX". (LEE is for Limited Edition Ebonite).  The acrylic pens will be engraved "2014 LEA #XX of XX"  (LEA is for Limited Edition Acrylic).

8. Requests for a specific number within the edition will not be honored.  You cannot request #1, or any other specific number.

9. In addition to the cost of the pen, there will be shipping charges, of course. International friends can certainly participate, but appropriate international shipping fees will apply.

10.  These two materials will be exclusive to the Glenmont for a period of one year.  We won’t be making any other Glenmonts from these materials for one year to respect the "rules" of a Limited Edition.

If you have questions, please leave a comment, or email us.

Thanks!

Edison 2014 Limited Edition Group Buy Update….

Hi Pen Fans!

Every year (usually in the spring), we do a Signature Line Limited Edition Pen, and we do it at a "Group-Buy" price.

Since these pens are built assembly-line style, we pass this efficiency to the customer by giving a better price.  This annual group buy is the only time that you’ll ever see a Signature Line Pen discounted in any way.  In the past, a pen that retails for $250 is offered in this setting for between $175 and $190.  This year, the project will most likely be identical in price, or certainly within that range.

If you are interested in seeing how these deals worked in the past, you can see the 2013 Edition here, and the 2012 Edition here.

The reason for this update is that this Group Buy is obviously happening later this year, as Spring has already passed.  We had a lot of ancillary projects this spring, and we just couldn’t get the Group Buy happening then.  We also have received a lot of questions as to when this will happen, so I wanted to address this in a more formal manner.

Well, we do have a plan at this point!  We will be taking a vacation in July, and then we’ll get the 2014 Limited Edition Group Buy announced right after that vacation.  Then the buying period will be extended until a little after the DC Pen Show, and we’ll start manufacturing after the DC Pen show.

So this means that we’ll anounce this pen around the 28th of July and the buying period will begin then.  The buying period will end after the DC Pen Show, so sometime the week of August 11th, maybe the week of the 18th, not sure yet.  Then we’ll manufacture after that.

We already have some wonderful materials picked out, and we also have a good idea as to which model will be featured (can’t tell yet!), so stay tuned!

Edison Nouveau Premiere Summer Edition!

Hi Pen Fans!

We are proud to announce that the next Seasonal Special Edition Premiere is available from Goulet Pens!

This season, we’re using a great material called Caribbean Sea.  This material has a lot of depth and pearlization, with a very nice turquoise shade.  There’s a ton of nice inks that will compliment this material very well!

I won’t get too detailed here, as the Goulets do a great job of announcing this pen with more photos and video over on their blog.

Click here to learn more about this pen.

Click here to buy this pen.

Remember that this pen will only be around for the summer.  Once it’s gone, it’s gone!

Thanks!

Double Ended Pen Section Added to the Site!

Hi Pen Fans!

It’s always wonderful to get custom reqests from clients.  I love how customer submitted design ideas always cause me to consider a brand new approach on how to make pens.  At times, I make a custom pen for a client that I love so much that I decide to make the pen an official part of our line.  This happened a while ago with the Collier, and now it will happen with our Double Ended Pens.

If you are interested in learning more about the genesis of these Double Ended Pens, please check out our blog posts Here and Here.

So the Double-Ended pens will now have a permanent place on our Signature Line Page.

And you can go here to see the page that is now dedicated to Double Ended Pens.

Thanks!

Edison Nouveau Premiere Special Spring Edition!

 Hi Pen Fans!

The Edison Nouveau Premiere Special Spring Edition is here!  Cherry Blossom Acrylic!

The Goulets do a great job of announcing this pen, so I won’t repeat a lot of their information.  Please go to the Goulet’s Blog Post Here to see all details, along with a nice video presentation.

Here in Ohio, we just recently had a break in the weather, and it feels like it might actually stick!  So the timing for this "springy" pen couldn’t be too much better!

Remember that these seasonal special editions will only exist during their respective season, so once summer comes around, these won’t be available anymore.

Go here for all details.

Gold Snake Clips!

We are happy to announce that our Sterling Silver Snake Clips are now available in a gold plated version!
(if you can’t see the video below, please go here).

In the past, people have been very happy with our Solid Sterling version of this clip, as you see below….

But I think a lot of people would appreciate a gold version to compliment warmer colors, as you can see here…

There’s more details within the video above, but either the gold or silver version will add $90 to the cost of a pen.

A New Material Coming to the Production Line Collier!

Hi Pen Fans!

We are very happy to announce a new material that is is now available in the Production Line Collier!

This new material will be called Blue Steel Acrylic.  It’s a very nice deep blue with lots of depth, and a rather subtle swirl.

Since this pen is part of the Production Line, remember that Edison will not sell this pen direct.  The retailers that carry the Production Line will be selling this pen.  You can find these retailers here.  All retailers have placed their orders for this pen, so they all should be ready to ship!

So this makes 4 nice materials that can be had in the Production Line Collier!

By the way…..do you notice something interesting when you look at the photo above? If you look closely at the Antique Marble Collier on the right, you’ll notice that the color of the Antique Marble is a little darker.

Some of you might remember when we made an announcement about 2 years ago regarding a slight color change to the Collier.   Back then, the manufacturer that we were getting the Antique Marble from changed the color to be just a little bit lighter.  Well, we have good news!  The original darker amber color is now back!  I personally like this darker color a lot more, and I think that most of our fans agree.

So as of now, the Blue Steel and original Antique Marble materials are available in the Collier!

Click here to see the retailers that sell these pens.

Thanks!

Edison Nouveau Seasonal Special Edition!

Hi Pen Fans!

I’m very happy to announce a new material that is being used on the Edison Nouveau Premiere!

This will be the first of a series of Seasonal Special Editions.  You can expect to see a new Special Edition material with the change of each season.  This means that each Special Edition will only be available during the season that we are offering it.  After the season is over and the pens are sold, the pens are sold!

The Goulet’s have a complete announcement here on their blog, so I won’t bother repeating too much of their announcement.  Be sure to head over there to see the complete announcement, along with a nice video blog with Brian and Rachel explaining the new material and also how the seasonal Special Editions will work.

I will attach a photo below of the 2014 Winter Special Edition, which is very appropriate for this particular season…Black Ice!  Click the links below to learn more about purchasing the pen, and also how the Seasonal Special Editions will work!

Edison Nouveau Limited Editon – Buying Period Re-Opened…..

Hi Pen Fans.

(before I get to far, please realize that full details regarding this are over at the Goulet Pen Co Blog.  I’m going to do a quick summary here.)

I wanted to make people aware of an issue that has occured with the Edison Nouveau LE Premiere.

Please remember that the buying period for this LE pen was actually closed about 2-3 weeks ago.

However, the ebonite that we ordered came to us as a much lighter color than the sample that we had previously received.  This sample was the rod that that we made the artist’s proof from.

Since we had never bought this ebonite before, we had no idea that the sample piece was actually an anomaly, and we were pretty surprised to find that our larger order consisted of a lighter color of ebonite once we started turning it.  When we order ebonite, we have to accept a certain amount of variability from batch to batch, but this batch was rather different from what we had advertised.

This difference in color means that we need to make everyone aware that the pens cannot be delivered exactly as promised.

So here’s what will happen…..

1.  People that ordered this pen and are disapponted in this new color will get full refunds, no problem.

2.  People who didn’t like the original color that we promised can now pick up this pen if you like the lighter material.  We realize that it probably wouldn’t be fair to not give people a chance to pick up this color if they like it better.

Please realize that the reasons for this decision is not simply an attempt to sell more pens.  In the end, we have two types of customers that we would like to keep happy.  #1 that I mentioned above who dislikes the new color, and #2 that I mentioned above who likes the new color, and would now like to participate.

The Goulets and the Grays thought long and hard on this, and I think that what we came up with is the best solution.

I will attach a photo below of the original and the new color.

But please go over to the Goulet Pen Co Blog for all all details.  There you will see a full explanation with more details, including a video where both Brian Goulet and I explain what’s going on in more detail.  You will also see more photos, along with information regarding the new buying period, which will end on Januray 3rd.

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments here or at the Goulet blog post linked above.  Or you can contact Goulet Pens or Edison Pens directly. Unexpected things happen to all companies, but we will always be transparent when these happen, and we want to make sure that all of our customers involved are satisfied in the end.

Thanks!
