We will be leaving today for the Michigan Pen Show! If I’m slow with emails, you’ll know why. We hope to see you there!
Also a quick reminder that the 2015 LE Mina buying period will be ending on Monday evening at 11:59 pm!
If you’ve been on the fence about this pen, there’s not a lot of time left. If you have not placed the order before this time, then you will miss out…no exceptions.
It’s a pleasure to announce our 2015 Limited Edition Group Buy Mina!
We are pretty excited with this pen as we’ve changed the shape of the Mina slightly, and we’ve included a very unique nib that we’ve never used in the past. Details are below…
For those of you who have participated in these Group Buys in the past, you’ll realize that this is the only time that you can get an Edison Pen at any kind of discount. We only do these once a year.
Please watch the video below, and then I’ll get into some details and logistics as to how this will work. (If you can’t see this video, click here).
Logistics
1. In order to participate, you will need to pay in full prior to any manufacturing. We will have a set buying period starting today, and ending at 11:59pm, October 26th.Once this buying period has passed, we will have a total number of pens. After this, we will not accept any more orders. We will then order materials. Once they arrive, we will begin manufacturing. Understand that this means that there could be 2 to 4 months between when you pay and when you receive your pen. I’m giving 2-4 months as a ballpark. The actual time involved will depend on how many pens we are making. Once we have a final number, I will have an accurate (albeit still estimated) timeline.
2. We will document the entire manufacturing process with photos and videos so you can watch the process of your pens being “born”. Updates will be posted here on this blog. If you use Periscope, we’ll also have updates there (our handle is @edisonpenco). Since you will receive these updates, the exact shipping date will not be a surprise to you. We will keep you updated.
3. The pen to be made will be Mina or Extended Mina as a cartridge/converter filler in either Denim Ebonite or Silver Amber Acrylic. See the video above or pics below.
4. Price for ebonite will be $175. Price for acrylic will be $170, then shipping. Normal retail price for these pens is $200.
5. Steel nibs only in XF, F, and M in this new and unique shape. If you wish to have an 18k nib, then you will need to buy the pen with the steel nib, and then contact me after you receive the pen for an 18k upgrade (nibs unscrew to interchange). If you wish to have a Steel B, 1.1, or 1.4mm italic, you can switch to a standard Edison Nib with the same procedure, but these will be standard Edison #5 nibs, and not the newer uniquely shaped nib.
6. There will be no nib customizations available. Only XF, F, and M. You will need to handle any nib customizations aftermarket.
7. The pens will be engraved as a Numbered Limited Edition. They will be engraved “XX of XX” on the top of the cap, depending on how many pens are purchased.
8. Requests for a specific number within the edition will not be honored. You cannot request #1, or any other specific number.
9. In addition to the cost of the pen, there will be shipping charges, of course. International friends can certainly participate, but appropriate international shipping fees will apply.
10. These two materials will be exclusive to the Mina for a period of one year. We won’t be making any other Minas from these materials for one year to respect the “rules” of a Limited Edition.

We are proud to announce our 2015 Limited Edition Production Line Collier!
See the video and photos below….
This edition will be limited to 150 pieces.
Price is $159.
The material is Black Rose Acrylic, which has been a favorite in our Signature Line as a custom material for a long time, but we’ve never been able to find it in large enough quantities for a series of pens this large until now.
Since this is a Production Line pen, you will not buy this pen directly from Edison. Instead, you will buy this pen from any of our retailers that we list here.
It’s with heavy heart that I announce the discontinuation of the Hudson from our Production Line as well as future custom Hudson possibilities. 🙁
This has nothing to do with popularity. As a matter of fact, the Hudson is one of our best selling and most popular of the larger models that we offer, which makes this even more difficult!
The reason for the discontinuation is that the supplier who sells us the exact clip that was used on the Hudson can no longer supply it to us….these clips aren’t being made anymore. And of course, a clip is very distinguishing to a pen model.
So regarding our Production Line Hudson….if you want to grab them up, our retailers still have some left, and we have a few left to ship them to fulfill orders. Go here to see retailers that will be selling off the last of the Production Line Hudsons, but I don’t anticipate them lasting long.
Regarding Custom Hudsons…I have hoarded about 5 of the last clips. I will reserve these last 5 clips for custom ordered Hudsons. You can email me to discuss a custom order.
Bottom line, if you like the Hudson and want to get one prior to the discontinuation, the time is now! The Hudson will not be returning!
In the meantime, fear not…we plan on having a new pen model appear in the Production Line to replace it early in 2015.
The 2014 LE Glenmont is finished, and heading out to the owners!
This was a larger project than what I anticipated, so it took us a little longer than the LE pen from last year.
I will attach a slideshow below that shows all photos from beginning to end. If you can’t see this slideshow, click here.
We managed to ship about 130 of the 170+ pens yesterday, so many of you have already received tracking information. The rest of the pens will ship today. If you bought the pen and you don’t have tracking information by Saturday, check your spam folder first. If you still have no information at that time, then feel free to email us.
I’d like that thank everyone for participating! We’ll do it again next year!
The 2014 LE Glenmonts are moving along nicely. See recent pics below, or the entire gallery of progress is here.
Just about all of the Pearlized Wine Pens are off the lathe, sanded and polished.
All of the Cumberland Pens are off the lathe, but not sanded and polished yet. That’s what we are working on now.
Then clip attachment, final assembly, final touchups, and nib work.
Right now, I’ll give a very rough estimated shipping date of after the Ohio Pen Show. So probably before Thanksgiving. But please don’t hold me to that, as unexpected things can happen. In any case, I’ll keep the updates timely!
The Edison Nouveau Autumn Special Edition Pen is here!
Here is the blog post announcing this pen. There’s plenty of content there that I will not duplicate within this blog post, so be sure to follow the link above to check out the pen, along with a nice video announcing this pen.
Remember the way that these Seasonal Special Editions work is that we will make as many pens as will sell for that given season, and once the season is over, they will be gone!
Also, to commemorate the Goulet’s 1,000th blog post, they are giving away one of these Autumn pens! Check out this blog post to see how you can qualify to win one of these pens!
As a side note, the buying period for the 2014 LE Glenmont has concluded! We will be putting up some blog posts soon, and should begin manufacting of these pens next week! Stay tuned!
The purchasing period for the 2014 LE Glenmont ended last Friday.
I’m still working to get a totally accurate count, but it looks like we are at about 170 pens. I’m going to get a final number before we begin manufacturing, but is looks like roundabout 110 Cumberland Ebonite pens, and 60 Pearlized Wine Pens.
It also looks like we will begin manufacturing next week. We have enough of the Pearlized Wine for the whole project, and enough of the Cumberland Ebonite to get started. More of the ebonite is coming. I’ll attach a pic of the raw materials below.
The Pearlized Wine is on the right, and the Cumberland Ebonite is on the left. Fear not! I realize that the ebonite looks really strange, or even green. Ebonite in it’s raw form always looks nasty! It’s not until you cut into the nasty rod that the beautiful grain and color begin to show.
So stay tuned for updates! Since this is a pretty large order, I’m glad that I didn’t promise an early timeline! In any case, if you ordered the pen, we’ll keep all manufacturing updates here on this blog, so you can watch the process of your pens being "born"! Stay tuned!
Lastly, I will keep global updates with galleries here, but if you on Twitter, I’ll probably be tweeting more random and frequent progress photos there. You can follow as on Twitter at @edisonpenco.
