Michigan Pen Show!

Hi Pen Fans!

We will be attending the Michigan Pen Show this weekend!

See the video below for the inventory that we’ll be bringing. There are a lot of pens that we’ve made in some excellent new translucent materials.

If you see a pen in the video that you like but cannot attend the show, feel free to email me to inquire.

Stay tuned, as after the Michigan Pen Show, I’ll put together a blog post featuring these new materials that you see in the video.

Then in two weeks, we hope to see you at The Ohio Pen Show!

Stay tuned!

Back From Vacation, Can’t Make DC This Year! :(

Hi Pen Fans.

Just a quick note to make everyone aware that we’re back from vacation and well rested! I’m tackling my mountain of emails now, so if you are expecting a response from me, you’ll receive it today or tomorrow.

But the real reason for the post…this is a difficult decision, but we won’t be able to make the DC Pen Show this year.

Bottom line, a lot of you know that we’ve had new machinery arrive. I’ll try to keep this brief and not too technical, but these new machines don’t simply plug in and make pens! Besides rigging crews, tooling, setup, and a steep learning curve regarding operation, the biggest job is programming. These machines speak a different language than our old machines. So literally every program for every part for every pen has to be rewritten, proofed, tested, and then tweaked for fine tuning. This has proven to be a huge job. Much larger than I had expected. Right now, I’m about 20% done with the re-writing and re-programming process.

So this means that I’ve been doing consistently 10-12 hour days before vacation for about a month, and will continue to do so until I’m finished.

A pen show like DC typically takes 2-3 weeks of preparation in regards to inventory leading up to a very hectic weekend. Then we really don’t get back into our groove until about 1 week after the show.

So it just won’t be feasible this year for us. This is not an easy decision, as we truly enjoy seeing our clients live at the pen shows. Then even though the pen shows are very hectic and busy (especially DC) they are a ton of fun!

Once we are in full operation with the new machines, we’ll get things back to normal here.

Thanks!

Michigan Pen Show!

Hi Pen Fans!

We are packing now for the Michigan Pen Show! We should be set up by 3:00 today (Friday), and then we’ll be set up all day Saturday.

We’ll have a bit less than 200 pens with us, including some pretty phenomenal new materials that we’ve made into some Menlo Draw Fillers!

See the photo below to check out some of these new materials. As opposed to many of our previous translucent materials, most of these have a clear base material, rather than tinted. This really makes a pretty incredible appearance in my opinion! When these pens are filled with ink that’s sloshing around inside, they will look pretty amazing as the ink will show through better than typical!

We hope to see you at the show!

DC Pen Show!

Hi Pen Fans!

We are packed up and heading to DC for the Pen Show!

We’ll be bringing around 225 pens with us. This is not as much as we’d like to bring to a show like this, but considering our recent machine issues and delays, it’s not too shabby! Here’s a quick view of what our inventory will look like.

There will be plenty of Draw Fillers as well as some pretty amazing materials that we haven’t used before!

We’ll be set up from Friday morning until Sunday evening.

If you can’t make the show, I’ll be doing my best to keep updates on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

We hope to see you there!

Well Shoot! We are going to miss Chicago!

Hi Pen Fans.

I wanted to publish this as soon as we knew for sure.

My wife is going in for surgery soon and her recovery time will be during the Chicago Pen Show. I will be needed to help during her recovery period. This might also mean that I’m a little slower with emails over the next week or so.

The surgery is very routine and very low risk, thank goodness.

So while this is a bummer, we have no choice regarding the pen show. 🙁

Our next show will be DC, so I hope to see our fans at that time!

Like I said, this is very low risk and very routine, but good thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

UPDATE

Andrea’s surgery went exactly as planned! Flying Colors! She is now in recovery mode. Last week I was only able to spend about 2-3 hours each day at best working. But this weekend Andrea started getting up and moving about mostly on her own. So this week things will be relatively back to normal here at our facility as my time will not be nearly as divided!

Many thanks to all of fans who wished us well! The outpouring of kind thoughts was quite overwhelming! Andrea, myself, our family and employees truly appreciate how excellent our fans are!

We’re Moving! (as a result can’t make the LA Pen Show) and Email Server…

Hi Pen Fans!

I have great news in that we will be moving our business in late January/early February. This is wonderful for us, as we will increase from our current space almost 4-fold. Right now, we’re getting awfully cramped and simply running out of room as we grow.

Now the bad news is that this move will create a conflict with the LA Pen Show. 🙁

When we get prepped for a pen show, it literally takes about 2-3 weeks of work to get adequate inventory created. I’ve weighed all options and this move will definitely create a conflict. I wanted to let our West Coast friends know about this as soon as I knew for sure. LA is easily one of my favorite pen shows, so this was not an easy decision. But unfortunately it has to happen this way.

We will close down for an entire week when we do make this move. If the timing of anyone’s order is effected by this, I’ll reach out to those customers directly.

The next piece of news is that over the Holiday break, I moved our email servers. The reason for making people aware of this is that while doubtful, it’s possible that a few emails got lost in the shuffle. So if you are expecting an email response from me and don’t receive it by the end of the day Tuesday, please reach out.

Lastly, stay tuned! We’ll be announcing some great new items in early 2017!

I hope that everyone’s Holidays went well!

Back to work!

Ohio Pen Show!

Hi Pen Fans!

We’ll be heading to the Ohio Pen Show today!

For those who have never attended this show, I recommend it. This show is always a nice combination of Vintage and Modern Pens.

Normally, I would put together a quick video showing what pens we are bringing, but I’m afraid that we’ve been a little too busy for me to have the time for this. So instead, I’ll share a slideshow below showing all of the pens that are coming with us. (if you can’t see this slideshow, click here)

We’ll be set up Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! We hope to see you there!
