We’ll be attending the Chicago Pen Show this weekend (our first since Covid!)
We will be bringing a Limited Edition Pen that is exclusive to the Chicago Show! This is a Comet made from Jonathon Brooks Forged Patina. Please see the video below for all details.
The edition will be limited to only 15 pens. They will be priced at $275 with a Steel nib or $375 with an 18k nib.
We will limit our Friday sales to 10 pens only and our Saturday sales to the remaining 5 pens. First come, first serve each day. We realize that a lot of people can’t get off of work to attend a pen show on a Friday and we want everyone who wants this pen to have a shot at it.
If you cannot attend the pen show and like this material, we do have plenty of it left for custom pens. While we cannot make a pen identical to this Comet and also abide by the “rules” of a Limited Edition, we can still take custom orders for other pen models made from the same Forged Patina material. Be sure to email me if you’d like to speak about a non-limited edition pen made from this material.
Outside of this Limited Edition pen, of course we’ll be bringing lots and lots of our normal inventory to the show. Actually, we’ll be bringing inventory exceeding 425 pens! Please see the video above for all of these pens. We normally need 2 tables for pen shows, but we’re stepping it up with 3 tables this time! We will have pens made from materials that we’ve never brought to a pen show before, including lots and lots of pens made from craft materials by Jonathon Brooks and Tim McKenzie.
We never would have predicted this a couple of years ago, but due to COVID, we haven’t attended a pen show since March 2020! Sheesh!
At each major pen show, we typically bring a small Limited Edition pen that is exclusive to that particular show. We keep these editions smaller, make it very special, and only attendees of that pen show can purchase that particular pen.
Of course, we need to plan these LE pens well in advance. So in early 2020, we contacted Jonathon Brooks requesting that he put together another fantastic material created specifically for Edison. Well, the material arrived around the same time that Covid arrived!
So this exclusive material has been sitting on our shelves waiting for a fun project for about 2 years now! After missing our friends at pen shows and our fans also missing out on these smaller Limited Editions, we decided to just make a pen from this material now, albeit a smaller edition.
This is a Comet made from a material that Jonathon Brooks crafted specifically for us. We felt that calling it Deep Space was quite apropos for the Comet!
Normally when we do pens with exclusive materials, we buy enough so that we have extra to also make custom pens for those interested. However, we don’t have any more of this. So if you like this Deep Space material, this pen will be your only option to acquire it.
The material is a very nice deep blue with some very subtle purple highlights.
Actually, this composition and color tone definitely reminds me of vintage Cobalt that was used extensively in original Sheaffer Balance II’s. This does have a tighter pattern (which I like better), and also some excellent and subtle purple highlights.
Going with the style of the Comet (our newest model), we made the finial from Solid Blue Translucent Acrylic.
Since this material was intended as a smaller LE for a pen show, we never ordered a lot of the material compared to our normal LE pens. Therefore….
…this pen is limited to only 35 pieces
The pen will come with a Steel Nib in your choice of EF, F, M, B, 1.1mm, and 1.5mm.
The price is $245. If this same pen were ordered as a custom Signature Line pen, the normal price would be $295.

The Comet is a design the uses the finial as the largest diameter, tapering from this point all the way to the end of the barrel.
The majority of the Comet designs that we have created for our inventory have an accented finial from a complementary material. The name comes from the idea of a comet flying through space. The accented finial represents the comet, and the rest of the pen represents the tail.

Our employee Jake has a lot of fun making custom t-shirts in his spare time and he’s actually quite skilled!
He has been making some Edison shirts for us to wear the last few years, and we’re nuts about them! Our fans have seen us wearing these shirts on our social media outlets and many people have said that they would love it if we made them available for sale. So we are obliging!
So these shirts are made by Jake in-house. They are 100% pre-shrunk cotton from Bella+Canvas with the Edison logo in white on the front.
These shirts feature a more athletic fit. So if you prefer a looser fit, we recommend ordering a size up from what you may normally wear.
The logo measures 4 inches wide by approximately 6.25 inches tall.
Since we are able to make these in-house, we can keep the price pretty reasonable. We are more interested in people being able to wear our shirts than trying to profit significantly from these, so pricing is as such….
We’ve been looking for an opportunity to add a permanent 5th material to the Production Line Collier for a while now, but we were waiting for something in particular that I think everyone will really like!
We are calling this new material “Nighthawk”.
This material is made from the same composition as the Collier in Rock Candy. If you remember my blog post from when we introduced Rock Candy, it’s a very neat composition of acrylic. It’s difficult to put into words, but it has an amazing amount of depth considering that it’s a flecked pattern. This gives it a pretty phenomenal shine. While this composition is not celluloid, it feels like celluloid. Honestly, its qualities remind me of the original Sheaffer cebloplast, which is hard to find in a modern acrylic.
So with this new composition having a bit of a celluloid feel compared to our normal acrylics, we decided that we’d like to emulate one of my favorite celluloids that I’ve ever worked with, which is Tibaldi Impero (now extinct to the best of my knowledge). Many of you might know of this celluloid, as it’s very highly sought after. We used to have some supplies of this, but they were used up very quickly years ago for good reason.
So this was our inspiration when having the material made. I didn’t want to copy it exactly, however. I wanted to take the qualities that I loved about Impero and keep them, but make a small change that I feel improves the look. What I really love about the original celluloid is the incredibly saturated and deep blue flakes, which Nighthawk definitely has, but featured even more. What I wanted to alter was the ratio of black and grey in the base. Impero has a bit more black vs grey in the base material, and I was happier with a bit more grey vs black. I want to be clear – this material is not celluloid. It is an acrylic that is inspired by a very popular and now extinct celluloid. So the appearance and the feel of this material do remind me of celluloid. I felt that our customers would appreciate knowing the backstory and inspiration behind this offering.
This pen will NOT be replacing any of the other currently available Colliers. So there will now be 5 offerings in our Production Line Collier. The Collier offerings will now be (L to R in the photos below) Nighthawk, Rock Candy, Burnished Gold, Persimmon Swirl, and Antique Marble.

We are proud to introduce a new Signature Line Limited Edition Pen with a bit of a winter theme. This pen is limited to only 50 pieces. It is a Glenmont that uses aRuthenium clip and a Ruthenium steel nib.
It was several years ago that we acquired a batch of steel nibs that were plated in Ruthenium. They are no longer available to us. Ruthenium is a unique plating. It has a darker shiny tone, as opposed to our normal steel nibs that are bright in color. They are not as dark as our Black Oxide nibs, but Black Oxide is a chemical treatment and usually comes out with a mildly satin finish, whereas ruthenium is a darker shiny plating.
We hoarded these nibs for quite a while! You can tell that these nibs go back into our history, as they have the “Edison” text on the engraving. Several years ago, we changed our nib engravings to have only the logo with no text. So these were a special purchase from years ago that we hid away for the right day!
We recently sent off some of our Glenmont clips to receive a matching plating in Ruthenium, and we feel that the effect looks pretty nice!
This pen is made from an acrylic that we call “Black Ice”. I’m not sure how the weather is treating you in your area, but here in Ohio, this pen is quite apropos, as it’s 7 degrees at the time of writing this!
The pen will be available with a Steel nib in Fine, Medium, or Broad. It is a converter filler.
The edition is limited to only 50 pens. We would have loved to have made more, but we only have so many Ruthenium plated nibs to use!
The price for this pen will be $225. The normal retail price for a Glenmont with a Steel nib is $275. Since these pens were made “assembly-line” style, we can manufacture them faster with the same quality. This allows us to bring the price down significantly compared to a fully custom version.

We have been offering our original Snake Clips for many years now, but we felt that it was time for a redesign that would be much more detailed, a bit slimmer and lighter, and one that would fit all of our pens, including the smaller designs. All details are in the video linked below.
These clips are made from a tarnish-resistant Solid Sterling Silver.
To clarify, these “clips” technically are not functional clips. They are not intended to be placed over a shirt pocket, since Solid Sterling will bend and not spring back. They are intended as decorative roll stops.

These clips weigh only about 6 grams. So they really don’t affect the balance of a pen significantly and don’t make the pen cumbersome at all.
