We’ll be leaving for a much needed vacation tomorrow and we’ll be gone for 2 weeks.
Some of you might have pens that are due to ship during this period, but fear not….many of those pen were already shipped. If not, then we have the vast majority of the work done on those pens. All that’s left is an engraving and packing. Wendy and Jake will be here to take care of this for us, so if your pen is due to ship during our vacation, you’ll still get the pen on time.
During vacation, I really like to stay away from work as much as possible, which includes emails. I will be able to return emails when I return around July 9th-10th.
I’m proud to announce that we have a new retailer in the US carrying our Production Line.
If you look at our list of retailers, you’ll see that we very carefully choose who sells Edison Pens, and this addition is no exception.
Mike and Linda Kennedy run Indy-Pen-Dance. If you are not familiar with Mike and Linda, they are relatively new to the scene, but they’ve been taking some pretty large steps in a very short time.
Mike and Linda are both proteges of Richard Binder, having trained with him for the last 3-4 years. As Richard approaches retirement, he has stopped his retail sales (including Edison), as many of you have noticed. With Richard’s endorsement, Mike and Linda have been working to take up his slack. The idea is for Mike and Linda to take over Richard’s previous role in the pen market in every way.
Many of you might remember that the Edison Production Line, as sold through Richard, included his thorough testing of every nib prior to shipping, or “Binderizing” at no extra cost. Mike and Linda will also offer this service with all pen sales, as well as custom grinds for a fee, if desired.
Be sure sure to head over to Mike and Linda’s site, and see what’s going on. You’ll see that in addition to now carrying Edison, they also offer custom nib grinding, pen repair, as well as vintage and modern pen sales.
Last weekend, we were able to host a visit from the Ann Arbor Pen Posse!
The reason for this post is two-fold…
1. The visit was a ton of fun. Hector with Inkluminati put together a wonderful blog post that is very well written, and is amazingly photographed. It’s definitely worth sharing.
2. A lot of people don’t realize that visits to our facility here in Ohio are welcomed by appointment. If you belong to a pen club and would like to arrange a visit to check out how we make our pens, just reach out!
Some of you might know that I’m a huge baseball fan.
I have decided to take a nice vacation this year not only to enjoy some better weather, but to see my Cleveland Indians do their Spring Training in Arizona! Can’t wait!
So I’ll be gone from Thursday the 19th until Thursday the 26th. If I’m slow with emails, you ‘ll know why. I’ll return emails when I’m back next week.
It’s been rather hectic since the LA Pen Show, but things have finally returned to normal!
We’ve had a chance to update our Current Inventory Galleries with all of the pens that we made in preparation for the LA Pen Show.
Since the last time that you would have seen this gallery, there’s been about 40 Menlos, as well as about 70 other different models added. So this gallery will look pretty different now, with lots more to choose from.
If you see a pen within this gallery that you like, it’s ready to ship with no waiting! Email me to inquire.
I am proud to announce that we now have two new international retailers carrying our Production Line.
First, we have Scribe Writing Essentials in the Philippines. I have been in contact with the good people at Scribe off and on for a while now, and my understanding is that our shipment of pens landed within the last few weeks, so they are in stock and ready to sell to our friends in the Philippines!
Next, we have Scrittura Elegante in the Netherlands. They also contacted me around the same time, and it looks like our businesses also compliment each other very well. Their shipment has also arrived, and their store is ready to sell to our friends in the Netherlands!
Please visit these fine businesses, and tell them that we sent you!
It was great to see some of our usual faces, and to meet lots of new fans.
We are still a bit tired and jet-lagged, but we are back to work today. If you are expecting an email from me, I will respond to you today.
Regarding photos – normally after the pen shows, I host a nice slide show of my pics from the show. However, I’ve been loving Instagram lately, so if you’d like to check out our LA Pen Show photos, head on over to the Edison Instagram account.
PS…since we just returned to -3 weather in Ohio (-15 with the wind chill), I just wanted to add a photo of the beautiful view from our hotel in LA. Sigh……
Please watch the video below to see the inventory that we’ll be bringing. If you can’t make the LA Pen Show and you are interested in a pen that is shown below, feel free to email me. As long as it didn’t sell in LA, we’ll get you set up when we return.
If I’m slow with emails until the middle of next week, you’ll know why.
