Production Line Pearlette on the Way Out! Will be Discounted!

Hi Pen Fans!

It was about 2 months ago when we announced that the Menlo was coming to the Production Line and that the Pearlette was being phased out. We wanted to give our customers plenty of warning so that everyone that wanted a Production Line Pearlette would have a chance to pick one up before they are all gone.

As of yesterday, we have ceased manufacture of the Production Line Pearlette. Please note, however that we have not discontinued the Signature Line version of the Pearlette. So we can still make custom Pearlettes, but remember that the price of a custom Pearlette is higher than the Production Line version.

We still have a small amount of Production Line Pearlettes inventoried to ship to our retailers. But once those have been shipped, no more will leave our facility, and whatever our retailers have stocked will be the last of the Production Line Pearlette.

In the interest of making a clean transition and also for ease of our retailer inventory, we have lifted our normal fixed retail pricing and are allowing our retailers to discount the Pearlette.

This is the first time in our history that we’ve ever allowed an Edison Production Line pen to be discounted. There are no plans in the future to do this again. So if you’ve ever considered picking up a Pearlette, now is the time!

Again, this discontinuation is of the Production Line version of the Pearlette only. You can still order custom Signature Line versions directly from Edison.

The Results Are In! The New Collier Will be Pearlized Juniper!

Hi Pen Fans!

Last week we explained an issue with one of our materials suppliers who is experiencing delays due the virus. As a result, we are completely out of Rock Candy for the Collier! 🙁
Click here if you did not see this post.

So we ran a poll and allowed YOU to decide what the next Collier Production Line Material would be! The results are in, and Pearlized Juniper will be the next Collier Production Line Material!

At the beginning of the poll, Lapis Lazuli Flake had a hearty lead, but as the weekend passed, Pearlized Juniper took the lead!

So we are manufacturing the Collier from Pearlized Juniper literally today!

Remember that this will be a temporary replacement for the Collier in Rock Candy. Honestly, we have no idea how long it will take to get more Rock Candy. It could be a month or it could be several months. But as soon as it does arrive, we’ll stop manufacturing the Pearlized Juniper, and resume with Rock Candy.

I estimate that it will take us a little over two weeks to get these manufactured out of Pearlized Juniper and into the hands of our retailers. I’ll keep updates timely.

Stay tuned!

Covid Delays! So We Are Allowing YOU to Choose the Next Production Line Collier!

Hi Pen Fans!

Unfortunately, we are experiencing Covid-related delays from one of our materials suppliers. At this point, we are completely out of the Rock Candy that we use for the Production Line Collier!

Our supplier will get Rock Candy to us as soon as they can, but they are working with a very small staff due to virus-related restrictions. So our order is significantly delayed, with no definite date of arrival.

Here’s our plan….

We need to temporarily stop manufacturing the Collier in Rock Candy. We will offer a replacement until our shipment of Rock Candy arrives.

And YOU can choose what it will be!

We have a poll set up so that all of our customers can choose between four excellent materials that will be the new Production Line Collier.

This new material will be temporary. We will continue to manufacture the Collier out of this new material until our shipment of Rock Candy arrives. At that time we will will stop manufacturing the new material and resume the Rock Candy.

So here are the four materials that we are allowing our customers to choose from!

A = Pearlized Juniper
B = Dreamy
C = Polar Crunch
D = Lapis Lazuli Flake

You can see additional photos of each material by clicking these links…

Click Here To Vote for the Next Collier Material

The poll will remain open until Sunday evening. Then on Monday morning, we’ll begin manufacturing the new Collier! I will estimate that it will take about 2+ weeks for us to get proper inventory built and then get the pens into the hands or our retailers.

Please reach out with any questions.

Menlo Converter Filler to the Production Line! Pearlette being phased out…

Hi Pen Fans!

It’s been a while since we’ve introduced a new model to our Production Line, but now is the time!

The Menlo has been a very popular pen within our Signature Line since we introduced it. The Signature Line version is typically a Draw Filler, but we have engineered the Menlo to be a Converter Filler for the Production Line!

We will be offering this in three materials. Sweet Honey, Blue Grotto, and Fingerpaints.

All three of these pens are available at the retailers listed here.

Specifications
Weight 18.5 grams/.652 oz
Capped Length 143mm/5.620”
Posted Length to Nib Tip 165mm / 6.490”
Body Length to Nib Tip 128mm / 5.030”
Body Diameter 13.1mm / .515”
Cap Diameter 14.4mm / .560”
Section Diameter at Narrowest 9.6mm / .38”
Section Length 17.1mm / .670”

Sweet Honey is a material that we’ve never used before. This comes from the same supplier as our Rock Candy Collier, so it has that nice “near-celluloid” feel.

Blue Grotto is a fantastic Dark Blue/Pale Blue combination. We have also never used this in the past, and it comes from the same supplier as the Rock Candy Collier, so it also has that “near-celluloid” feel.

Lastly, Fingerpaints might look familiar to many of you, as we are currently using this material in the Pearlette. It’s been very popular, so we wanted to continue using it in the Menlo.

Speaking of the Pearlette, we will begin a phase-out of the Pearlette from the Production Line. We will continue to manufacture the Pearlette for the Production Line for about a month then we will cease manufacturing the Pearlette for the Production Line. So if you’ve ever thought about a Production Line Pearlette, now is the time! Of course, we can still manufacture custom Pearlettes, but we can’t offer those at the same price as the Production Line version.

If anyone has any questions, please reach out!

Covid 19 Edison Update

Hi Pen Fans!

Well, it’s been an interesting few months here! If you remember my original post when the Ohio Stay at Home order came into effect, running this business has mostly been just my wife and I for a good while now. Our employees were helping remotely where they could, and they had occasional staggered hours. We were able to keep up pretty well actually, but it did mean longer hours.

As of about two weeks ago, manufacturers in Ohio have been cleared to bring employees back with certain caveats. We waited a little after this announcement, but have brought back our crew to normal hours and we are taking all precautions.

We are fortunate in that the building that we occupy has lots of space that we don’t normally use. So we have our workstations spread across our entire building, and each employee is in a totally separate room with a closed door between them and anyone else. When an employee leaves their work station, masks are on.

Additionally, anytime that a parts rack is being passed from one station to another, all parts get a spray with denatured alcohol. All incoming mail and packages are getting sprayed before handling, as well. Side note – in case you are wondering about sanitizing an Edison Pen, denatured alcohol is perfectly safe for the acrylics that we use. I wouldn’t spray the nib, or get the alcohol somehow incorporated into the ink, but it’s totally safe on our acrylics.

So we are mostly back to business as usual! We have procedures in place that will ensure our safety, but I wanted to give everyone this update.

Everyone please use all precautions and stay healthy!

New Materials in the Production Line Beaumont!

Hi Pen Fans!

First off, I hope that everyone is staying healthy! If you are not sure about how the pandemic is effecting Edison, please see this blog post. Bottom line, it’s pretty much my wife and myself holding down the fort for the foreseeable future. We are taking all precautions at work and also outside of work. If we are slower with communications or order fulfillment, please bear with us. But everyone here is healthy and I hope the same for each of you!

I’m happy to announce that we have refreshed the Production Line Beaumont with two new materials!

For those of you who like the originals, I see that some of our retailers still have these stocked, but once they are gone, they are gone!

So here are the new materials! (if you cannot see the images below, please click here).

If you are interested, follow this link to see all of our retailers that are carrying this pen.

Aurum…

Fireball….

So below is the entire new selection of Production Line Beaumonts. From left to right…Aurum, Unicorn, and Fireball.

For those who like the materials that these are replacing (Twilight Embers and Amber Glass), I’d recommend deciding quickly, as whatever our retailers have inventoried is all that’s left!

If anyone has any questions, please reach out!

Ohio Stay at Home Order and How It Effects Edison

Hi Pen Fans.

As many of you are aware, the state of Ohio has just issued a Stay at Home Order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. I wanted to outline how this will effect Edison.

I am asking all of our employees to stay home until further notice. Beyond this, the state has made it clear that businesses should utilize a “Minimum Basic Operation” as needed.

There is a large portion of my job that can be done remotely. My employees will have their computers to also help with remote work from home. My plan is to continue working, but my wife and I will be the only ones here at Edison doing so on location.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, my wife and I will work remotely from home. Then on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, my wife and I will work on location to ship current inventory orders, as well as manufacture and fulfill our Signature Line orders.

So this means we will be mostly business-as-usual here at Edison. But since it will be a limited staff, things will be running a bit slower. So please have patience regarding timing of communications and order fulfillment.

During work, and especially outside of work, my wife and I will be practicing all precautions.

If anyone has any questions, please reach out, but for now if a fountain pen is a good way of breaking up the boredom, we’re still here to help! We recently updated out Current Inventory with lots of new pens including some amazing materials by Jonathon Brooks, Tim McKenzie, and Mike Allen, as well as our newest model, the Brockton. And of course, custom orders are always welcome!

I will post updates as they are required.

Everyone please exercise all the necessary precautions, and please stay healthy!

Everyone Stay Healthy and Current Inventory Updated!

Hi Pen Fans!

First off, we truly hope that you as well as your friends and family are all healthy during this crazy time! At Edison, we are business as usual, but we’re also a relatively small operation. As long as things don’t get worse in Ohio, we’ll remain in operation. But we are taking all precautions and working remotely where we can.

But while being cooped up, I suppose that browsing some excellent pens is a good way to spend time! With that in mind, our Current Inventory Galleries have been updated. Rather than waiting through our current 11 week backlog for a custom order, these pens are all ready to ship immediately for those interested.

A lot of these pens were made in preparation for the Baltimore Pen Show. There are lots of new Menlo Draw Fillers in some excellent translucent materials that we’ve never used before.

Also, we have taken some of Jonathon Brooks’ amazing materials and used it for our Current Inventory. You can see them here.

Lastly, we’ve made plenty of our newest model, the Brockton. This is the first time that we’ve had current inventory Brocktons ready to ship. You can see those here.

I will place a slide show below that shows all pens that are ready to ship, or you can click here for the Current Inventory Galleries.

Again, everyone please use all precautions during this time until things are in the clear. We’ll be doing the same.

Baltimore Pen Show and LE Exclusive for the Show!

Hi Pen Fans!

We’ll be attending the Baltimore Pen Show this weekend!

The last three pen shows, we’ve been featuring a Limited Edition Exclusive for each show, and they’ve proven to be very popular! Once again, we will use a special material obtained from Jonathon Brooks of the Carolina Pen Company.

Please see photos below. This is our newest model, the Brockton. It is made from Jonathon’s “Combustion”.

The edition will be limited to 15 pens. They will be priced at $275 with Steel nib or $375 with an 18k nib.

At the San Francisco Pen Show, our LE Exclusive Pen sold pretty fast, and we realize that some people were disappointed in this. For this reason we will limit our Friday sales to 10 pens only, and our Saturday sales to 5 pens. First come, first serve each day. We realize that a lot of people can’t get off of work to attend a pen show on a Friday and we want everyone to have a shot at this pen who wants it.

If you cannot attend the pen show and like this material, we do have a bit more of it. While we cannot make a pen identical to this one and also abide by the “rules” of a Limited Edition, we can still take custom orders for other pen models made from the same Combustion material. So be sure to email me if you’d like to speak about a non-limited edition pen made from this material.

Outside of this Limited Edition pen, of course we’ll be bringing lots and lots of new inventory. We’ll have just over 380 pens with us.

Unfortunately, we haven’t had time to get all of the pens that we’ll be bringing to the show photographed and uploaded to our galleries, but we’ll have the galleries updated when we return from the show. In the meantime, here’s a link to the vast majority of the pens that we’ll be bringing.

Lastly, we do have exactly ONE LE Herald in Rose, left and we will bring this to the show if anyone is interested. We also have a small handful of the Group Buy LE Brocktons left, and those will also be with us.

We hope to see you this weekend!
